The heart is an amazing thing and we all need to try our best to keep it good shape since once a problems arise the organ is often hard to repair. There are various ways of gleaning information regarding the condition of the heart and these days it is even possible to do this at home thanks to advances in technology which have given us the Omron Heart Scan and the portable heart monitor.
The Omron Heart Scan is a portable ECG recorder that fits into the palm of your hand. It is a compact, ergonomic, standalone and user friendly device that you can carry with you at all times. When you feel the symptoms of a heart problem transient cardiac events you can make a 30-second recording of your heart s waveform, instantly and discreetly.Omron is a name in the medical field which is accepted as providing top quality healthcare equipment for home use ad is very reliable and affordable.
The cordless operation and direct on screen display allows a quick scan of the heart condition. The Omron ECG analysis provides information on heart rate, rhythm and the ECG waveform. The single lead recording runs for 30 seconds and includes a multilevel display of deviations from the norm as well as the date and time of the recording, the heart rate and the short cut analysis.
A handheld heart monitor is a very useful for providing quick and accurate information at home and this can then be passed on to the doctor as needed. Another device which is becoming popular for home use is the fetal heart monitor. A fetal heart rate monitor is a hand-held ultrasound transducer used to detect the heartbeat of a foetus for prenatal care. It uses the Doppler effect to provide an audible simulation of the heartbeat. Some models also display the heart rate in beats per minute, or bpm. Fetal monitors provide information about the foetus similar to that provided by a fetal stethoscope. Starting at week 5 the fetal heart rate accelerates by 3.3 bpm per day for the next month.
The fetal heart begins to beat at approximately the same rate as the mother\’s, which is typically 80 to 85 bpm. The approximate fetal heart rate for weeks 5 to 9 (assuming a starting rate of 80):
Week 5 starts at 80 and ends at 103 bpm
Week 6 starts at 103 and ends at 126 bpm
Week 7 starts at 126 and ends at 149 bpm
Week 8 starts at 149 and ends at 172 bpm
At week 9 the fetal heartbeat tends to beat within a range of 155 to 195 bpm.
At this point, the fetal heart rate begins to decrease, and generally falls within the range of 120 to 160 bpm by week 12
This means that prospective parents can use the fetal heart monitor to hear the sound of their baby s heartbeat in the womb and start to bond with the baby and reassure themselves too.
